Cookie Sale
Out of the books and into the kitchen! Chartwells pastry chef Cindy was kind enough to help our class bake over 300 Italian-inspired cookies. Boot-shaped just like the country itself, we decorated these rich decadent sugar cookies in the arrangement of Italy's flag. Packed in threes' the red, green and white sweet treats were sold to help us raise money for our trip.
(And we had a blast baking them!)

Sweepstakes Basket
To get others as excited about going on this trip as much as we were, we decided to offer people the chance to get as close to the Italian experience as possible-without hitching a ride in our suitcases!
By pulling our resources together, we created a sweepstakes to be raffled off first, second, and third place prizes.

Lunch at Luke's
With the money we raised from the two fundraisers above, we were able to put a portion towards a Lunch & Learn at Luke Palladino Seasonal Italian Cooking restaurant in Linwood, NJ. An aficionado of the art, Luke was a rising star during his studies at the Culinary Institute of America in New York. He continued learning more about Italian cuisine and traveled to Italy for four years to develop his skills. After returning to the U.S., he opened up many restaurants in the Greater Philadelphia area.
Luke's warm hospitality taught us about his journey with Italian cuisine and travels throughout the country, which led way to his current success as a restaurant owner and caterer. We were treated to a delicious spread of appetizers including Truffled Grissini, Bruchetta di Tonno, and Pizzata.
